Parks & Trails on the Seattle Eastside![]() Oh so many places to take the kids in the Spring and Summer, but since our sunny days are limited, it's good to be picky about where to go.
Bellevue Botanical Garden (Bellevue) 12001 Main Street Bellevue, WA 98005 Why? Serene gardens perfect for a stroll or a mini hike with the little ones. Water fountains, birds, and lots of space for a family picnic. more info: http://www.bellevuebotanical.org/ Bellevue Downtown Park (Bellevue) 10201 N.E. Fourth Street Bellevue, WA 98005 Why? Beautiful Downtown views, large fountain with ducks, a half-mile trail perfect for pushing the stroller, nice playground good for all ages, 20-acres of green for picnicking and playing ball, walking distance to Bellevue Square. more info: http://www.ci.bellevue.wa.us/downtown_park_and_rose_garden.htm Cougar Mountain Trails (Issaquah) Exit 13 from I-90 Issaquah, WA Why? Beautiful views and many trails to choose from that are appropriate for all ages. Redmond, WA 98052 Why? Besides the huge play area with new equipment, a walking trail, picnic shelters, ball fields, and tennis courts, this park has a great sandbox perfect for toddlers. more info: http://www.redmond.gov/insidecityhall/parksrec/parks/grasslawn.asp Kelsey Creek Park & Farm (Bellevue) 410 130th Avenue S.E. Bellevue, WA 98005 Why? This park and farm is a great place to take kids of all ages. It has a picnic shelter for summer picnics, barnyard animals including sheep, pigs, horses, and chicken, and a kids play area perfect for the littlest ones. Bellevue, WA 98006 Why? With a big kids' and a little kids' play area, it's perfect for kids of all ages. It also has a nice half mile nature walk loop and many opportunities for spotting wildlife. more info: http://www.ci.bellevue.wa.us/lewis_creek_park.htm Medina Park (Medina) N.E. 12th Street and 82nd Ave S.E. Medina, WA 98039 Why? Water, ducks, and a whole lot of grass for running around. Kids love this park. It has a great play area with a rockbox, rather than a sandbox, that kids love - but doesn't get them too dirty.
